Here's the effect:
the spectator randomly pairs face-up cards from two different 6-card piles. She ends up with one pair of matching face values, the other five pairs have mis-matched face values. But you explain the idea was to match the backs, and she matched all of them. You turn over the five mis-matched pairs and all the backs are colorful matching pairs. Then you show that you knew she would match the other pair, because not only do the face values match, but the backs match and say "MATCH" in bold letters.
The late Tom Craven put these card sets together, and had his own routine using them (which is included, of course). But I wanted a more meaningful and logical procedure for the effect, and so I made up my own routine and handling. You will get complete instructions for my handling, which turns Craven's good trick into a great trick (in my humble opinion!)
Oh yeah, there are NO SLEIGHTS in this routine, so it is super-easy to do.
NOTE: the colorful card backs in the set you receive may be different from those shown in the photo, as there is some variation in the sets I have. But all the colorful backs have similar look as those shown.
The cards supplied are bridge-size cards, as was typical of older card effects that required fancy backed cards. But now, with so many back designs being printed by the USPCC, you could make this trick up in poker-size cards fairly easily, once you know my routine.
Add this one to your act, and you will have yet another effect that the other magicians are not doing (but they wish they were!)
