Originally published in hardcover in 1968, this is the 1975 first Paperback edition of this excellent book by Temple Patton
Although available in later hardcover reprints, this 1st paperback edition is quite rare and commands prices of $50-$75 when it shows up for sale. This one is in excellent condition, but does have some price sticker damage to the upper corner of the cover, so it could be a bargain for one lucky book collector out there.
The book contains excellent material, which requires no sleight of hand, but is much better than typical beginner's card magic book. All tricks use mathematical principles and/or some pre-arrangement to create baffling but sleight-free card magic. I imagine this book may have scared off some beginning card magic enthusiasts, because the mathematical principles are quite subtle and sometimes pretty involved.
I am not sure why this paperback edition is so rare, but maybe they did not print very many -- probably due to the weird cover which looks like Little Orphan Annie performing the Disembodied Head illusion?
