PUNKTURE  (Jay Sankey, published by Sankey Magic) --

This is probably not one of Jay Sankey's top selling effects, but not because it does not look really good, and not because it does not fool lay audiences.  It is a strong piece of apparently impromptu magic using apparently ordinary props.

I am guessing this is not one of his top sellers because (for what you get), it seems really expensive.  The suggested selling price on this one is $35, and you get a teaching DVD and a couple of safety pins.      As Sankey explains on the DVD, he looked long and hard for to find the right safety pins, and they are high quality pins that make the effect work (as opposed to if you tried to make this with some cheaper safety pins).      But it still seems like a lot.

So hey, I will sell this one for less.

What it does:  you show a borrowed bill, or I like to use my business card, and you show a safety pin.  You pierce the bill or card with the pin (like in the photo), and then you slowly and visibly move the pin (and its hole, of course) to another place on the card.  You can then pull the pin right off the card, but the card is unharmed.

Sankey's clean up handling is excellent, and makes the effect seem so clean that when you hand both objects to the spectator to examine, they have no thoughts that maybe there's something else involved.  (Which of course, you know there is!)

This is good magic, and just unfortunate that it does not have the "perceived prop value" to match its suggested $35 price.    So hey, I will sell this one for less.  (did I say that already?)

Best online price I found today for this DVD was about $27.

Opened for inspection, but in new, unused condition, with DVD instructions.

(also includes the necessary pins for you to use in the effect.)
