Here is a nice version of the visual kidshow quickie. It is a large (18 inch) silk -- you can see the size by comparing to the poker-size deck of cards in the photo (cards not included, just there for scale!). The silk has red and white stripes running across it.

Holding the silk by the corners, the stripes are running up and down. Have the kids countdown 3-2-1 and then yell "Go!" They do, as you shake the silk, but nothing happens. "Not loud enough. Try again" The kids countdown and yell "Go!" (You can play the "not loud enough" gag a few times if you want, but then finally it really works. When you shake the handkerchief, the stripes visibly change and now run from side to side!

Fun interlude between heavier fare.

This version of the trick uses an attached gimmick which makes the change happen almost automatically. You just need to practice getting the knack of shaking the scarf and dropping a corner.

I got a great deal on some of these, so don't let the low price lead you to believe that the prop is low quality or no good. Trust me. If you do kidshows, you will find a place to add this extra moment of magical fun.
