Simple props for a classic effect, the Lucky Dip trick. Five poker chips are placed in an ordinary paper bag, and the bag is closed and shook, mixing the chips well and truly inside the completely opaque bag. The mentalist turns his head away as he lets five different spectators each choose one chip from the bag. (Mentalist could be blindfolded, as there is no peeking involved). But despite these fair conditions, the mentalist can immediately name the person holding the red chip. Could be repeated with a different color chip, though this is not really part of the routine.
Max Maven makes a feature out of his version of this effect. Though this one uses a different method from Max's, it is just as effective. Heighten the suspense by offering $100 to the spectator who gets the red chip, provided you fail to find it. Tell the spectators to not look as they choose, and now NO ONE knows where the chip is, with $100 up for grabs. But of course, you find the red chip without fail!
Chips and Bag can be examined before and after the effect. Brand new and unused, with instructions.
