Okay.  Lubor Fiedler is a mad, mad genius.  His grasp and application of optical principles has created some of magic's most innovative and visual effects.  Flying Carpet is his latest and it really looks amazing (albeit from limited angles, and with 3-D glasses).   I can't say that I would ever perform this in a formal show, but for a few friends who want to see something incredibly cool looking, it is certainly one of the most interesting living room magic tricks you could bring out.

You lay a black cloth down -- and then place the landing pad in the middle.  (It's a cardboard circle of reflective stickers.)  You also have a small (about 3 inches tall) folding stand, upon which rests a "magic carpet".  The stand and carpet are lightweight printed cardboard -- the "carpet" is laminated for durability.   Now you position a couple of spectators in front of the landing pad, standing about 5 feet away, and instruct them to put on their protective glasses (3-d glasses provided).   You lift the carpet from the stand and place it over the circle on the landing pad.  The carpet seems to float there, about 3-4 inches off the ground.   Next you step ONTO the floating carpet with both feet, and it continues to float.  Then stoop down and move the landing pad below the floating carpet while you stand on it.

Best way to understand this is to open a new browser window and paste this link into it -- its one of many You Tube vids that show the effect.

Expensive for what you get, which is basically some cardboard props, but the effect is so neat, I think it's worth it.  And like many expensive Tenyo effects, it may become quite rare in the future, since many will pass it up.  I have not tried, but I suspect that if you found a small thin carpet remnant in a bright color, you might be able to substitute it for the cardboard carpet provided.  Maybe.  But it probably is not needed.  Your friends will be amazed anyway as they watch you float right in front of them.

Hard to find now, as the item was fairly quickly discontinued by Tenyo, probably because it is not really a show piece.  But for those who love ultra cool optical illusions, and for Tenyo collectors, it is a great addition to your collection.
