Fade Away (Stephen Tucker) -- neat packet trick

This is part monte routine, part ambitious card, and part all-backs routine...  Huh?  Well, Fade Away (by UK magician Stephen Tucker) gets a lot of mileage out of just three cards,  It looks like this.   Three cards are shown, and the top one is turned faceup revealing the 8 of Diamonds.  It is put in the middle of the other two, but jumps to the top again.  Next it's put on the bottom, and again it jumps to the top.  When the spectators assume the cards are all 8D's, you show them they are correct.  But then all the cards are seen to have no faces at all, just backs on both sides.  This final display is really clean and baffling.

The effect comes with bridge sized Piatnik cards, however, it can be done with some common gaffed cards you probably already own, and so you can do this using your favorite brand.  Also, it is good to start with two cards facedown and then add a FREELY selected card to the other two and go into the routine.  Then when the spectators assume they are all the same, they will still wonder how you knew to have duplicates of the freely chosen card.

Mr. Tucker still sells this item on his own website for 15 British pounds.  That's pretty steep for a packet effect, but this one is a goodie, so definitely worth the TMGS price!
