Almost every working kidshow magician in the world has owned or performed Mak Magic's classic Stratosphere's effect. But many have overlooked this other excellent kidshow effect, which Mak first put out int he early 1970's. The Balloon Buster has great kidshow potential, using an exploding balloon, a large plunger, a box with a colorful clown graphic and a production pay-off that can include a dove, a bunch of candy bars, or just about anything that will fit in the box.
The effect: a big solid black plunger is shown inside a colorful open-front box. The plunger is removed and set on the table. A balloon is inflated and stuffed into the box. It fills the box and can be seen through the opening in the front. The plunger is picked up, and pushed down into the box. The balloon pops and the plunger is removed to show a good-sized production, which could even be a dove or small rabbit. No angles, no external loads, so perfect for kidshow performing situations.
This Balloon Buster is one of the original ones from the 1970's, has been previously owned, and has a large marred area on one side (see picture). It could be re-painted or this side kept mostly away from audience view. It is too bad it has this damage, but works great, looks great from other angles, and the damage is a testament to how often a previous owner wanted to include this great item in the show!
