Another of the "beginners" tricks that I learned in my first year as a magician, but that I still perform frequently, even 30 years later! It is that easy, and that good. A handkerchief is spread out on the table and the corners folded in to the center. Laying his hands around the edges to hold it down, the magi commands Hyrum the ghost to appear, and in the center of the hank, a form begins to grow and move. It is very eerie. Lots of variations: JC Wagner caused a selected card to come alive under the hank, and jump out. Another variation is to put a small spirit slate and chalk in the hank, and the ghostly movement is the spirit writing the message! You'll have fun with this.
