From Magic Makers (circa late 1990's -- back when they were making some really nice props!) comes this high quality close-up prop that looks and works great!
The effect: a "wallet" is opened to show a solid mirror inside. The mirror fits into a depression inside the wallet, so it sits snugly in place. The mirror has a ribbon attached to it, so when it is enclosed in the wallet, the spectator can hold the ribbon to insured the mirror doesn't "go anywhere". The wallet also has a tiny trap door on the top and hole on the bottom. The die is placed on top of the mirror (through the trap door) and then slowly sinks through the mirror and falls out the hole in the bottom. The wallet is immediately opened to show the mirror still in place.
This one takes some practice to get the knack of it, but when you have it down, you can really fool your spectator. This is a cool effect, but I should mention that it is a bit angle-y, and so best when performed for only one or two people. For this reason it is not so much a showpiece as a great miracle for informal sessions of magic.
